Court Tours

Program Information

Municipal Courts Tours are available Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Herbert W. Gee Municipal Courthouse. All tour dates must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

To Schedule A Tour:

  • Email Jose Soto to schedule a tour.
  • Include the following information in your request:
    • School/Group Name
    • Three preferred tour dates
    • Desired arrival & departure time
    • Contact name & phone number
    • Approximate number of visitors (Maximum of 30 guests per tour)

Municipal Courts will respond to confirm a date for your tour.

Below is some basic information about the process that you would need to know once a date has been confirmed.

Before You Arrive:

  • Send a roster of attendees, including faculty/staff to Jose Soto
  • Download and complete the Media Consent Release Form for each attendee under the age of 18. Bring the signed forms with you on the day of the tour.
  • The tour is a walking tour, and we usually take the stairs to navigate between floors. If there is anyone in the group that needs disability accommodations, please let us know ahead of time.
  • At your earliest convenience, please confirm if your bus driver will stay or drop off your group and return for pick-up.
  • Confirm your visit and the number of attendees 24 hours prior to the tour date.
  • You will be sent an agenda highlighting the day’s activities at least 48 hours prior to your visit.

Arrival Logistics:

  • Call, email or text us when you are within 10 minutes of arrival (the number will be provided in your confirmation email).
  • Please ask your driver to unload in front of the building, located at 1400 Lubbock Street.
  • If your driver is planning to stay for the duration of the tour, parking is available (details will be provided in the confirmation email).
  • A member of our team will meet your group outside and direct them to the first part of your tour.  

Tour Activities:

During the tour, the visitors will be given a close-up glimpse of our court operations. Please inform them of the following courtroom etiquette:

  • Proper Dress Code (no shorts, tank tops, bare midriffs or t-shirts with offensive language);
  • No eating or drinking;
  • No talking;
  • No electronic devices of any kind, including cameras, camcorders, phones, iPods, etc.; and
  • No talking while court is in session.

Students will be given time after court proceedings to engage in dialogue with a judge, and later, with other court officials. Questions are encouraged during these times.
