"NextSeed operates a fully-integrated online investment platform and investment banking practice. The site enables private companies to raise capital directly from everyday investors, and the scalable online marketplace gives both accredited and non-accredited investors access to a new asset class of locally-owned small businesses and commercial real estate projects.

Founded in Houston in 2014, NextSeed has been working with businesses located throughout the city and in Opportunity Zones since before the Qualified Opportunity Zone tax legislation was passed in 2017. In May 2019, NextSeed Securities, LLC, an SEC-registered broker-dealer, was launched to further expand the type of offerings on the platform to include larger projects and new industries.

Today, NextSeed members continue to inject capital into areas of Houston in need of reinvestment and redevelopment, offering community-building investment opportunities regardless of the tax status of participating investors."
