Collection and Facility Schedule for the
Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday 2025

HOUSTON — In observance of the City of Houston's approved holiday on Monday, January 20, 2025 , collection services will be adjusted during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

Due to increased participation in the residential curbside heavy trash program, services are currently behind schedule. To assist the department's efforts to return to the regular schedule, curbside tree waste and yard waste collections have been temporarily paused for the remainder of January. We appreciate your patience as we work to complete services. Below is a list of closures for facilities and administration.

Monday, January 20, 2025 (MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY):
CITY HOLIDAY: All Solid Waste Facilities including, collection services, the Neighborhood Depositories/Recycling Centers, Westpark Recycling Center, Environmental Service Center, The Reuse Warehouse, and administrative offices will be closed.

Tuesday, January 21, 2025
Monday's curbside garbage and recycling will be collected. All Solid Waste Facilities including Neighborhood Depositories/Recycling Centers, Westpark Recycling Center, Environmental Service Center, The Reuse Warehouse, and administrative offices will re-open.

  • NOTE: For the safety of our employees and the public, services may start later in the day due to the projected impact of winter temperatures and iced over streets.

Wednesday, January 22, 2025:
Tuesday’s curbside garbage and recycling will be collected.

Thursday, January 23, 2025
Normal collection services resume.
