February 11, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 9800 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 2:40 a.m. today.

The identity of the deceased female, 24, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer L. Fenoglio reported:

The driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Eastex Freeway when the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and landed on the freeway. It is unknown if the truck struck the victim or if she was struck by another vehicle also on the freeway.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the female to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.

Further investigation and autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will determine if the female's cause of death was from the fall from the vehicle or because she was struck by a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
