January 12, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a woman at 6430 Lautrec Drive about 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 9).

The suspect, Tom Reed Jr., 71, is charged with with aggravated assault of a family member in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Reed Jr., who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The victim, 45, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detective J. Rivera reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported her to the hospital.
Investigators learned the victim and suspect were previously in a relationship. They were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into the shooting. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and Reed Jr. was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
