September 5, 2023 - The fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 15615 Eastex Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 11:50 p.m. on Saturday (September 2) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, 38, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Investigators K. Fregia and J. Diaz reported:

Officers responding to a report of a shooting outside a business at the above address and found the victim had suffered gunshot wounds.  Witnesses stated the male and an on-duty security guard got into a verbal altercation.  The deceased male then pulled a gun from his vehicle and pointed it at the security guard.  The security guard then shot the deceased several times.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.  

The Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and it was determined the case would be presented to a Harris County grand jury.
