May 1, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6196 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 3:20 p.m. last Friday (April 28).  

The identity of the deceased male, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer M. Keita reported:  

The driver of a white Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound near the above address and approaching the intersection of the Eastex Freeway (North Interstate Highway 59) service road.  The driver of a white Chevrolet Cruz was traveling southbound at the Eastex Freeway service road, ran the red light at the intersection of the Sam Houston Parkway and was struck by the Dodge.  

The passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Both drivers and the 2-year-old passenger of the Dodge were transported to area hospital with minor injuries.  The drivers of both vehicles were determined not to be impaired. 

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
