July 24, 2023 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and apparent suicide of a man at 1501 Ojeman Road about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday (July 23).

The identities of the female victim, 25, and male suspect, 23, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Brooks and Detective C. Davidson reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and learned a female was found in the parking lot.  She had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Witnesses told detectives the victim arrived to the complex to pick up her child from the baby's father (suspect).  During the process, it is believed the male shot the woman one time and then left the scene on foot. 

With the assistance of an HPD K-9, a male matching the description of the suspect was found approximately one block away.  He had sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased.
