December 15, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6100 North Shepherd Drive about 9:35 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 14).

The identity of the deceased male, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer C. Brothers reported:

The male, a pedestrian, was crossing the street - not in a crosswalk - at the above address when he was struck by a black Volkswagen Passat traveling in the northbound lanes. Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

The male driver, Terran Gerrod Byrd, 39, was questioned and determined to be impaired. He was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #1 and taken to the Harris County Jail.
