August 31, 2023 - A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 7250 Avenue C about 9 p.m. on June 18 is in custody.

The suspect, Anthony Campos Galvan Jr., 29, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court. A booking photo of Campos Galvan, courtesy of the Cameron County Jail, is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the killing of Nestor Saldana, 30.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and D. Lunceford reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim, later identified as Mr. Saldana, with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.

A preliminary investigation indicated an argument in the pool area of the complex led to the shooting.

Further investigation identified Campos Galvan as the suspect in this case. He was subsequently charged on July 12.

Detectives learned that Campos Galvan was arrested last Saturday (Aug. 26) in Brownsville, Texas. He was transported to the Cameron County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
