August 15, 2023 - Houston police are investigating the death of a child at 5300 Holly View Drive about 8:55 a.m. on Saturday (August 12).

The identity of the deceased child, 2, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detectives M. Barrow and J. Caten reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a possible drowning at a residence at the above address. The mother of the child found him unresponsive and called 9-1-1.

The mother attempted to provide medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the child to Texas Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

At this time, there are no indications foul play was involved.

The investigation is pending autopsy results.
