September 30, 2022 - Houston police have learned a woman critically injured in a crash at 5200 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 11:45 a.m. on August 27 has died.

The identity of the female, 65, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold reported:

The victim was a passenger in a white Ford F-350 pickup truck traveling northbound at the above address when it struck the rear of a cement truck whose driver was braking for a vehicle in front of him.  Paramedics transported the woman to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center where doctors pronounced her deceased on Thursday (Sept. 29).

The Ford's male driver, 66, was cited in the crash for failure to control speed and released.

The investigation is continuing.
