Incident at 1002 Holland

February 11, 2007 -- A suspect who threatened a Houston police officer with a deadly weapon was fatally shot by the officer at 1002 Holland on February 10, 2007 about 1:05 p.m.

The deceased suspect is identified as Michael Gene Meloy (w/m, DOB: 9-20-69).

The officer, S.C. Dalton of the Northeast Patrol Division was not injured. Officer Dalton was sworn in as an HPD officer in May 1993.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H.R. Hernandez and Officer P.J. Guerrero reported:

HPD officers responded to an assist-the-officer call in Jacinto City with an armed robbery suspect. Upon arrival, the officers were advised the suspect had entered the convenience store at 1002 Holland. As the officers approached the store, Meloy exited with a knife in his right hand and a can of tobacco. Meloy was ordered by Officer Dalton to drop the knife. Instead, he lunged forward two or three steps at Officer Dalton who then discharged his shotgun one time. Meloy was pronounced dead at the scene.

As is customary in officer-involved shootings, the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions and the Harris County District Attorney’s office are investigating the incident.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3300 Brittmoore Road

September 6, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3300 Brittmoore Road about 5:05 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 5).

The identity of the deceased male, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer F. Serna reported:

The male was driving a gray Honda Odyssey at a high rate of speed northbound at the above address.  Witnesses stated the male was weaving in and out of traffic when his vehicle swerved into the southbound lanes (on-coming traffic) and struck a gray Jeep Cherokee head-on. 

Paramedics pronounced the male deceased.  The female driver, 32, of the Jeep was transported to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
