Incident at 802 Country Place #87

January 5, 2006 -- Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect believed to be responsible for the stabbing death of a 31-year-old man that occurred at 802 Country Place #87 on Thursday, January 5, 2006 around 3:05 a.m.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Officers T.R. Cunningham and B.D. Evans, patrol officers responding to the location learned that Nickey C. Cunningham had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and died from those injuries. Witnesses told investigators that the suspect, Michael Franklin Matos, is the former roommate of the victim and that he could be headed to Florida.

He was last seen driving a 2005 Ford F-350 17-foot U-Haul truck with Arizona plates AA91027. The truck has the standard U-Haul markings.

Anyone with information on Matos' whereabouts or has seen the U-Haul truck are asked to call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 3800 Gulf Freeway

January 07, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3800 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) that occurred about 6:10 p.m. on Thursday (January 6).  

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer D. Vinton reported:  

A gray Kia Rio was disabled with no lights activated in a moving lane of traffic near the above address.  The driver of a gray Jeep SUV traveling on the freeway was unable to avoid the Kia and struck the rear of the vehicle. 

The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the Jeep, who was determined not to be impaired, was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation is continuing.
