February 21, 2022 - The fatal shooting of a man at 312 West 9th Street about 4:05 a.m. on Saturday (February 19) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Dudley and K. Heaverlo reported:

Officers responded to a shooting in progress call at the above address and upon arrival found the deceased male outside near the front door.

Initial reports indicated a suspect may still be inside the residence and HPD's Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) responded.  After SWAT made entry into the house, no suspects were found. 

Further investigation determined three people forced their way into the residence and fired multiple shots at the person inside the house. A person inside a back bedroom heard the gunfire, and began shooting his own weapon at the suspects.  Two of the three suspects fled.  The third suspect had been struck and was the male found outside the residence.   

This case will be presented to a grand jury.
