Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 7501 Bissonnet Street
February 10, 2022 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the shooting of a juvenile male that occurred at 7501 Bissonnet Street about 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday (February 8).
The male suspect, 16, was referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He also faces charges of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
The victim, 13, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives L. Thornton and L. Castellanos reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and learned the victim was inside a vehicle when an unknown suspect walked up to the vehicle and fired multiple times, striking the victim. When the victim and his driver fled the scene, they struck a juvenile female, 14. The juvenile female was transported to an area hospital in stable condition with a broken leg. The juvenile shooting victim was also hospitalized in stable condition.
Further investigation identified a juvenile male as the shooter in this case. He and another male, Corey Watkins, 19, were taken into custody on Wednesday (Feb. 9) following a brief vehicle pursuit in which the juvenile was identified as the driver.
Watkins is charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon and evading arrest.
