December 29, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4131 Bennington Street about 2:10 p.m. last Friday (December 23).

The suspect, Terrance Jermaine Nash, 37, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Nash is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the killing of Dontray Darnel Jefferson, 34.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Dudley and K. Heaverlo reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found Mr. Jefferson suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned Jefferson was involved in a brief dispute with the suspect before the shooting.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Terrance Nash and charges were filed on him. On Wednesday (Dec. 28), Nash turned himself in to authorities at the Harris County Jail.
