December 13, 2022 - The fatal shooting of a woman at 2000 Harland Drive about 3:45 a.m. on Monday (December 12) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Ferrell and A. Hernandez reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 2000 block of Harland Drive and found an unresponsive female in a ditch next to the roadway. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased.

According to witnesses, an unidentified male, along with the deceased woman, were observed by residents burglarizing vehicles in the area. One of the residents fired shots at and struck the woman. The unidentified male fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, this case will be presented to a grand jury for review.
