April 7, 2022 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 11300 Sandpiper Drive about 4:40 p.m. on March 5, 2021.

The suspects, Chrishaune Demarkell Murray, 30, and Deundrae Maurice Shoulders, 24, are charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.  Booking photos of the two suspects are attached to this news release.

Both males are accused in the death of Anthony Douglas, 63.    

Murray is also charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a man at 12221 Lemon Ridge Lane about 11:55 p.m. on July 7, 2020.  The victim was identified as Jonathan Kelly, 40.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow and K. Daignault reported:

On July 7, 2020, Mr. Kelly was seen outside his apartment at 12221 Lemon Ridge Lane when witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.  Kelly was found about 10 minutes later near a dumpster in the apartment complex.  He had suffered a gunshot wound to his right side.  Someone in a private vehicle then drove Kelly to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

On March 5, 2021, HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call to 11300 Sandpiper Drive after witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.  Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Douglas lying on the embankment of a bayou.  He had suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation into these two incidents identified Murray and Shoulders as suspects in the 2021 murder case.  Detectives also identified Murray as a suspect in the 2020 case.  Murray was arrested on March 30 and Shoulders was taken into custody on Tuesday (April 5).
