October 4, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 10700 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 2 a.m. today.

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer T. Phillips reported:

The victim was running southbound in the northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway when a Houston Fire Department ambulance, traveling northbound, saw the victim on foot and in the moving lanes of traffic.  The paramedics unsuccessfully attempted to stop traffic before the pedestrian was struck.  Both a black Chevrolet Suburban and a silver Nissan Altima then struck the victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Both drivers remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.

The investigation is continuing.
