Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7500 Hammerly Boulevard
November 08, 2021 - A fatal crash at 7500 Hammerly Boulevard about 10:50 a.m. on Saturday (November 6) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the female victim, 76, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer H. Nguyen reported:
The victim was driving a silver Honda CR-V northbound on Thonig Road and crossed Hammerly Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by a maroon Ford Expedition traveling eastbound on Hammerly. The impact pushed the Honda toward the property in the 2100 block of Thonig where it struck a parked Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. Paramedics pronounced the Honda driver deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated the Honda had the stop sign at the intersection of Thonig and Hammerly. It is believed the Expedition may have been exceeding the speed limit at the time of the crash.
The investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed at this time and the case will be referred to a grand jury.
