Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 700 East Whitney Street
April 20, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of two men and the wounding of two others found at 700 East Whitney Street about 12:10 a.m. on Monday (April 19).
The suspect, Tracye Cash (b/m, 28), is charged with capital murder in the 230th State District Court and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court. He remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound. A 2020 booking photo of Cash is attached to this news release.
The deceased victims are identified as Patrick Rashad Price, 25, and Robert Palmer, 27.
Two other victims, a male, 28, and a female, 30, drove to another location and were transported to area hospitals where they were treated and released with minor gunshot injuries.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. L. Meek & Detective S. Overstreet reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting at the above address and found a vehicle in the middle of the street with Mr. Price lying on the street behind the vehicle and Mr. Palmer lying nearby, on a driveway, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire department paramedics arrived and pronounced the two men deceased at the scene.
Officers also found a third male, Tracye Cash, near the vehicle. He had a sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital where doctors stated he is expected to survive.
Two additional victims, a man and a woman, sustained gunshot wounds in this incident. It was determined they were innocent bystanders traveling in a vehicle when gunfire broke out. The two drove to a business on the North Freeway service road, where they asked for help. An ambulance was called and the man and woman were transported to a hospital.
After further investigation, Cash, was identified as the shooter and he was subsequently charged.
