Investigation into Fatal Crash at 11300 Fondren Road
June 17, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11300 Fondren Road about 10:10 a.m. last Saturday (June 13).
The victim, a fetus 35 to 36 weeks old, was pronounced deceased at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and South Gessner Patrol Division Officer E. Bridges reported:
The driver of a blue Dodge Challenger exited a private driveway westbound near the above address to go southbound on Fondren Road. The Challenger drove southbound into the northbound lane and struck a black Nissan Rogue head-on travelling northbound on Fondren.
The Nissan's female passenger, 15, determined to be nine months pregnant, was transported by paramedics to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Doctors pronounced her baby deceased.
The female driver of the Nissan, 26, and the female driver of the Challenger, 18, were also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries. A male passenger, 6, of the Nissan was not injured and released to a family member at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the Challenger was reaching for a bag of food in her vehicle when she drove northbound into the southbound lanes.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
