Suspect Arrested in Sexual Assault of a Child

August 5, 2005 -- Charges are being filed against a suspect arrested in the sexual assault of a juvenile at a business at 150 El Dorado on Thursday (Aug. 4).

The suspect, Amilcar Dagobert Henriquez (H/m, DOB 7/6/46), is being charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He was arrested without incident at the scene on Thursday.

Houston Police Juvenile Division Sergeant R. L. Upton and Officer J. T. Roscoe of the Sex Crimes Unit reported:

On August 4, the suspect was working on-duty as a Wal Mart employee when he molested a 13-year-old boy in the restroom of the store. The employee grabbed the child while he was in the restroom and forced him into a bathroom stall where the boy was sexually assaulted. The child made an immediate outcry to his mother who alerted authorities. Officers reviewed the surveillance tapes from the store and developed a possible suspect. Henriquez was positively identified at the scene by the victim and taken into custody.

Henriquez provided to investigators a full confession and details of the sexual assault. The Harris County District Attorney's office accepted charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Investigators are asking anyone who might have been victimized by Amilcar Henriquez to contact the HPD Juvenile Division at 713-731-5335.
