Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting Incident at 3023 Farrell Road
December 28 2020 - Charges have been filed against a burglary suspect shot at by a Houston police officer at 3023 Farrell Road about 8:30 a.m. last Friday (Dec. 25).
The suspect, William Joseph Scott (w/m, 50), is charged with burglary of a building in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Scott is attached to this news release.
No one was injured in the incident.
HPD Officer L. Cook, who discharged her duty weapon, was sworn in as an officer in May 2017 and is assigned to the Northbelt Patrol Division.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Hekimian and Detectives N. Arellano and W. Elliott reported:
Officers responded to an alarm call at a business at 3113 Farrell Road and observed forced entry to a building. The officers searched the area and found a truck, which was determined to be stolen. Officers continued to search the area and located the suspect hiding in a dumpster. Officers gave the suspect numerous commands and while giving commands, an officer discharged her duty weapon. No one was hit or injured by the gunfire.
The suspect, Scott, was taken into custody and subsequently charged. Numerous property items were recovered and returned to the owner.
As is customary when an officer discharges a weapon in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
