Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 410 North Sam Houston Parkway East
December 17, 2020 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 410 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 8:05 p.m. on December 6.
The suspect, Luis Rey Ybarbo (H/m, 21), is charged with murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 338th State District Court. Ybarbo is wanted for his role in the death of Macario DeLeon, 18. A previous booking photo of Ybarbo is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Lamont and L. Lange reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in a strip center parking lot at the above address. Upon arrival, they found the victim (Mr. DeLeon) suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators learned two males, including DeLeon, were conducting a transaction with a third male when a robbery occurred and DeLeon was struck by gunfire. Three other people present during the robbery fled the scene, two of whom returned and were interviewed by detectives. They were released pending further investigation.
Further investigation led to the identification of the third individual who initially fled as Louis Rey Ybarbo. On December 15, he was charged in DeLeon's death. The other two individuals who initially fled continue to cooperate with detectives and are not charged in this incident.
