December 4, 2020 - Houston police have learned a pedestrian injured in a crash at 6500 Westheimer Road that occurred at 10:25 p.m. on November 30 has died from his injuries.

The victim, Mario Chigul, 58, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on Thursday (December 3).

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer K. Hines reported:

The driver of a black Honda Accord was traveling on Westheimer when he struck the victim.  Mr. Chigul had attempted to cross Westheimer, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck.  The driver of the Honda, who showed no signs of impairment, remained at the scene and was questioned and released.  

No charges have been filed at tis time, as the investigation is continuing.
