August 5, 2020 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a male suspect at 9465 Clearwood Drive about 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday (August 4).

The suspect, Ronnie Terrell McDaniel (b/m, 30), is charged with burglary with Intent to commit assault in the 179th State District Court.  He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is currently hospitalized.  A photo of McDaniel is not available at this time.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer C. Grahmann reported:

Officers responded to a report of a crash at 12900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) and upon arrival found McDaniel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  At the same time, officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and determined the male in the crash was the suspect in the shooting.

McDaniel told officers he had a prior relationship with the female living at Clearwood Drive and had gone to her apartment armed and with the intent to confront her.  He forced entry into her apartment and was then shot multiple times by a male inside the apartment.  He then fled the scene and crashed his car on the Gulf Freeway.  He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing.
