Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 12800 Westheimer Road
November 04, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 12800 Westheimer Road about 9:15 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 2).
The suspect, Adokoe D. Akue (b/m, 29), is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault-serious bodily injury in the 179th State District Court. A booking photo of Akue, who remains hospitalized, is not available at this time.
The identity of the female victim, 21, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer E. Rubio reported:
Akue was driving a silver Hyundai Accent at a high rate of speed eastbound on Westheimer as the female victim was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Briarwest Boulevard. Akue ran the red light and struck the Volkswagen, which then struck a white Lincoln Navigator traveling westbound on Westheimer in the left turn lane.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her male passenger, 18, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Suspect Akue was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital to be treated for a broken leg. No one in the Lincoln was injured.
