Investigation into Fatal Crash at 1701 South Shepherd Drive
June 11, 2019 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 1701 South Shepherd Drive about 1:30 p.m. on Monday (June 10).
The identity of the male victim, 54, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer N. Luu reported:
According to witnesses, a male pedestrian was standing on the northbound side of Shepherd Drive when he intentionally walked out in front of a dump truck. The vehicle stopped and did not strike the pedestrian.
The pedestrian then walked to the southbound side of the street and looked into oncoming traffic. The pedestrian then jumped in front of a cement truck and was struck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the cement truck remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
