Investigation into Fatal Crash at 221 North Haberman Street
February 4, 2019 - A fatal crash that occurred at 221 North Haberman Street about 10:35 a.m. on Saturday (February 2) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The female victim, 71, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer D. Nguyen reported:
The victim was unlocking the gate to her residence so her sister-in-law, driving a black Nissan Sentra, could enter. Her sister-in-law stated her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, causing the vehicle to drive forward and strike the victim.
The driver remained at the scene and there are currently no charges in this incident.
