Suspect Arrested, Charged in Assault at 12020 North Gessner Road
June 18, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the assault of a woman that occurred at 12020 North Gessner Road about 12:40 a.m. last Friday (June 15).
The male suspect, Derick Martin (b/m, 30) is charged with assault with intent to impede breathing and violation of a protective order in the 184th State District Court. He is accused of assaulting his wife, Janice Martin, 28.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers J. Hasley and B. Salazar reported:
Ms. Martin got into a domestic dispute with her husband, Derrick Martin, which resulted in him strangling her. Ms. Martin then shot her husband once in the left arm to stop the assault. He was transported to an area hospital where he was treated, released and taken into custody.
