Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9797 North Freeway
June 18, 2018 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male that occurred at 9797 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 1:05 p.m. on Saturday (June 16).
The victim, Fabricio Garcia-Mayorga, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. His manner of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Officers W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
Mr. Garcia-Mayorga arrived at the motel at the above address that was being rented by a friend. The friend stated Garcia-Mayorga had two different handguns and accidentally discharged one of the guns into the bed's mattresses. Approximately one hour later, according to the friend, the victim pulled out the second gun, a revolver, spun the cylinder, pointed the gun at this head and pulled the trigger, fatally shooting himself.
The investigation is ongoing.
