Investigation into Shooting at 10155 East Freeway
July 26, 2018 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a man at 10155 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 10 p.m. on Wednesday (July 25).
The wounded man, Deatravian Morgan, 19, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives C. Grahmann and R. Naughton reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a motel at the above address and found Mr. Morgan had sustained an apparent accidental gunshot wound to the head. He was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital.
A preliminary investigation determined Morgan was with two females in the motel room and playing with a handgun when the weapon accidentally discharged.
The investigation is continuing.
