Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2900 Southwest Freeway
December 31, 2018 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2900 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 3:30 p.m. last Friday (December 28).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 59, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer S. Reese reported:
The victim was driving a green Toyota Highlander northbound on the Southwest Freeway when he swerved out of the main lanes of traffic. The Toyota crossed over the right shoulder and struck a large concrete base of a metal light pole. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
It is believed the victim suffered a medical episode just prior to the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
