Investigation into Fatal Crash at 17800 Katy Freeway
September 11, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 17800 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) at 1:25 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 9).
The victim, Tushar Patel, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Salazar and Officer E. Clark reported:
Mr. Patel was standing outside his vehicle, a black Toyota Sienna, which was stalled on the right shoulder after running out of gas. As he stood outside his vehicle, he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
The vehicle is believed to be a possible newer-model Ford XLT pickup truck.
