Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7900 North Loop East
November 22, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7900 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday (November 21).
The identity of the male victim, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer D. Rodriguez reported:
The victim parked a silver Chevrolet Tahoe on the right shoulder of the freeway, exited the vehicle and walked westbound on the shoulder. The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was traveling westbound on the North Loop and, as he traveled downhill, saw the victim run in front of his vehicle. The driver was unable to stop in time and struck the victim. A yellow box truck following the 18-wheeler saw the crash and stopped his vehicle and was struck in the rear by another tractor-trailer truck. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The drivers of all vehicles involved remained at the scene, were questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
