Update: Suspects Charged in 2016 Fatal Shooting at 197 Goodson
June 1, 2017 - Charges have been filed against two suspects in the fatal shooting of a man found at 197 Goodson about 10 p.m. on November 8, 2016.
The suspects, Philip Battles (b/m, 18) and Ferrell Dardar (b/m, 18), are charged with capital murder in the 182nd State District Court. Both are accused in the killing of Melvin Enrique Bonilla-Fuente, 31, of the above address.
Photos of both suspects, who are in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges, are attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. Andrade and Officer S. Gromyko reported:
Mr. Bonilla-Fuente exited his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address and was approached by two males armed with pistols. The men got into a struggle and, at some point, Bonilla-Fuente was shot. HFD paramedics transported the victim to the hospital.
At that time, witnesses reported seeing a red sedan with at least four black male suspects inside, however, only two males exited the vehicle and confronted the victim.
Further investigation identified Battles and Dardar as suspects in this case and both were charged on Wednesday (May 31) for their roles in Bonilla-Fuente's death.
