Update on Investigation into Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash at 10300 North Loop East
January 24, 2017 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 10300 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 3:10 a.m. on November 20, 2016.
The victim, Michael Hayn, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Duplechain and Officer J. Baker reported:
A group of four motorcyclists stopped on the shoulder of the northbound lanes of the freeway at the above address to examine one motorcycle with engine trouble. While on the shoulder, a maroon vehicle, possibly a Honda sedan, failed to maintain a single lane and struck a member (victim) of the group and two motorcycles. Mr. Hayn was thrown over the median onto the southbound lanes of the freeway where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the striking vehicle failed to stop and render aid and fled the scene.
Further investigation revealed the suspect vehicle is likely a 2010 to 2012 burgundy Honda Accord. The wanted vehicle has significant damage to its front left side.
