Update: Person Sought in Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4020 Dreyfus
January 9, 2017 - Houston police are seeking to identify and question a female in connection to a fatal shooting of a man found at 4020 Dreyfus about 3:45 a.m. on November 1, 2015.
The female is described only as a black female who was seen getting out of, and then returning to, the victim's white Ford Expedition at a convenience store approximately 45 minutes prior to the shooting. Photos of the female are attached to this news release.
The victim, Emmett Wayne Crawford, 39, of Pearland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:
Mr. Crawford was in his sport utility vehicle on Dreyfus near Foster and got into an argument with a black female and a black male in a gray Honda or Hyundai. Both vehicles then moved slowly toward St. Augustine Street. As both vehicles stopped side-by-side at the intersection, several gunshots were fired and Crawford was struck. He was found deceased just outside his SUV.
A witness told police he was awakened by gunshots, looked outside and saw a black or dark blue Ford F-150 pickup truck with the headlights off reversing from the intersection on St. Augustine. The truck then headed eastbound on Dreyfus with the headlights still off. The witness also saw Crawford lying in front of his SUV, which was in a ditch.
Anyone with information on the identity of this female or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
