Fatal Shooting Investigation at 8500 Maplecrest
March 01, 2016 - The fatal shooting of a burglary suspect at 8500 Maplecrest about 1:30 a.m. today is being referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Officers K. Fregia and S. Overstreet reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at a residence at the above address. The homeowner told officers he was awakened by the noise of breaking glass. He said he grabbed his gun and went downstairs to investigate. Once there, he noticed an individual coming through a small window next to his front door. The homeowner stated he then fired shots at the male entering his home. Paramedics pronounced the male deceased.
