Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7800 Eastex Freeway
December 29, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 7800 Eastex Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday (December 28).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Vanderbull and Officer A. Mares reported:
The driver of a white Ford E-250 van was traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway service road when he struck a pedestrian (victim) attempting to cross the roadway, while not in a crosswalk. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver reported he did not see the victim and remained at the scene. He did not exhibit any signs of intoxication.
The investigation is continuing.
