Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 8900 Almeda Road
April 1, 2016 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a crash that occurred at 8900 Almeda Road about 7:50 p.m. on March 22.
The suspect, Elvia L. Coronado (P/f, 44), is charged with intoxicated assault in the 174th State District Court. A photo of Coronado is attached to this news release.
The female victim, 44, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Vanderbull and Officer J. Rivera reported:
The victim was riding a bicycle southbound on Almeda when the suspect, driving a white Ford Escape, failed to control her speed and struck the rear of the bicyclist. The suspect, Coronado, was arrested at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
