Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8501 Broadway
June 22, 2015 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 8501 Broadway that occurred about 12:35 a.m. on Sunday (June 21).
The suspect, John Sebastian Resendiz-Gonzalez (H/m, 18), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused for his role in the killing of Juan Resendiz, 48, of the above address, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A photo of suspect Resendiz-Gonzalez is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Senior Police Officers W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:
Mr. Resendiz was inside the apartment he shared with his wife and stepdaughter when he became involved in an argument with his stepson, Resendiz-Gonzalez (suspect). The suspect began to accuse Resendiz of physically assaulting his mother (Resendiz's wife). The suspect then shot Resendiz as he was walking across the room. In an effort to evade the suspect, Resendiz then ran into his step-daughter's room. The suspect then fired at least one shot into the room.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and confessed to his role in the incident.
