Fatal Crash at 6000 Southwest Freeway
July 13, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6000 Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) service road about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday (July 11).
The male victim, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Thomas and Officer M. Tamez reported:
According to witnesses, a black Honda Accord traveling westbound on Fountainview and a second black Honda Accord traveling northbound on the Southwest Freeway service road both ran their respective red lights. The Honda traveling on Fountainview struck the right passenger side of the other vehicle. One of the passengers in the Honda traveling on the same road was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in an unknown condition.
The investigation is continuing.
