UPDATE: Forensic Evidence Leads to Arrest, Charges, in Sexual Assault/Robbery Investigations


July 2, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested and believed responsible for at least 10 robberies, which include six sexual assaults and three attempted sexual assaults, at eight apartment complexes in southwest Houston since April.  
The suspect, Lemann Brown (b/m, 27) is charged with aggravated sexual; assault, robbery with bodily injury and felon in possession of a weapon in the 228th State District Court.

Brown is believed responsible for robberies/sexual assaults at the following two locations:  

  • 1455 Lakeside Estates about 11 p.m. on April 1
  • 1455 Lakeside Estates about 2:40 a.m. on April 22
  • 2828 Hayes about 10:50 p.m. on April 28
  • 3230 South Gessner about 5:30 a.m. on May 5
  • 2821 Greenridge about 1:15 a.m. on May 13
  • 2310 Crescent Park about 5:30 a.m. on May 15
  • 7222 Bellerive about 11:30 p.m. on May 15
  • 2151 Bentworth about 1 a.m. on May 16
  • 6100 Fairdale about 12:30 a.m. on May 30
  • 2151 Bentworth about 9:20 p.m. on June 1

In almost all incidents, the suspect approached the female victim in the parking lot of the apartment complex and, at gunpoint, sexually assaulted the victim and then stole her personal belongings.  
An intensive investigation was opened into the incidents.  DNA evidence recovered during the investigation was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).  A profile was developed that identified Brown as the suspect in the incident on 2828 Hayes Road.  Through combined investigative efforts of HPD's Westside Robbery Division, the Westside Divisional Tactical Unit and Special Crimes Division, Brown was identifed as the suspect in the other incidents.  He was arrested and subsequently charged.
