January 28, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 3457 Anita #A about 6:15 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 25).

The suspect, Damon Prescott Allen II (b/m, 25), is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court.  A June 2010 photo of Allen is attached to this news release.

The victim, Mitchell Shelton, Jr., 31, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Hassig and Officer T. Ferguson reported:

Suspect Allen drove to the above address to speak with his ex-girlfriend.  The two were arguing on the front porch when the woman's current boyfriend, Mr. Shelton, arrived.  The two men then began arguing.  During the argument, Allen produced a gun and shot Shelton before fleeing in a red pickup truck.
