January 13, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1400 Kingwood Drive about 3:30 p.m. on Monday (January 12).  

The male victim, 53, was transported to Kingwood Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dukes and Officer B. Clark reported:  

The victim, driving a black Hyundai Sonata, exited a private parking lot at the above address at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle crossed Green Oaks and struck a tree in a grassy area on the east side of Garden Oaks. The driver was transported to the hospital where he died.  

It is unknown at this time if the driver died as a result of injuries caused by the accident or due to suffering a medical emergency.  

The investigation is continuing.
