Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 9400 Southwest Freeway
December 18, 2015 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 9400 Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) service road about 8:50 p.m. on Thursday (December 17).
The suspect, Pedro Hernandez-Gomez (H/m, 22), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 184th State District Court.
The male victim, 31, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Kopulos and Officer C. Cisneros reported:
Hernandez-Gomez was driving a black Honda Accord at a high rate of speed southbound on the Southwest Freeway service road and failed to stay in a single lane. The Honda then struck a light pole. Hernandez-Gomez and his passenger (victim) were transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital. Hernandez-Gomez was determined to be intoxicated and he was subsequently arrested and charged.
