Help Us Help You Be Aware of Human Trafficking
December 9, 2015 - The Houston Police Department wants to remind citizens that combating human trafficking needs community involvement and assistance in identifying victims of this fast-growing criminal activity. The community is often the best weapon to help law enforcement in reporting and solving human trafficking crimes.
Human trafficking can occur anywhere and there are many factors that come together to make Houston one of the major human trafficking "hubs" in the nation:
- Largest city in Texas and closest to the Mexican border
- Major international airport and shipping port
- Popular location for minors to run away
- Large sex industry
